24 September 2014, the journey begins from Krabi Airport to the jetty to an hour drive that stops at Bahuahin Jetty. Since I will be staying at Pimalai Resort & Spa, the management had arranged a private speedboat to take me to Amphur Kao Old Town Jetty on the east coast of Lanta Island. From there, a private car will be waiting to send me to Pimalai. It was really a posh experience, friendly staff great you with a warm smile, handing cold towels and bottled water. It was a beautiful sight to see small islands, blue sea waters, local villagers and their sampans, but the ride doesn't come free. It cost me THB 1,900 per person in each direction (join boat & a private car). It took me approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to reach my destination.
Upon arriving, I was amazed to see the great landscape of Pimalai's exterior, bright and clear of the Andaman sea, the beautiful sound of the shores. Everything was so impressive that I can't wait to deep my legs into the sands.
25 September 2014, woke up with the sounds of the sea. What else can you possibly ask for when one is living near to the beach. After shower, I went to the resort's Banyan Tree restaurant where breakfast is served. One of the best reason when you're travelling alone in a romantic place is you get a special seat reserved for you with an amazing view to catch while sipping a cup of coffee. By afternoon, I headed down to the beach, sun tanning throughout the whole day. The best part if you're in a 5 star resort, you will be treated like a 5 star. Staff comes every half an hour to provide you complimentary fresh cut fruits, cold water an clean towel at your sun bed.
26 September 2014, having spend 2 days at the resort doing nothing is starting to bored me a little. I went to a small bar called Why Not Bar just steps away from the resort to rent a scooter that cost me THB 400. With that scooter, I managed to roam around Koh Lanta. I guess this is the best way to explore the whole island. Roads here are fine but if you move towards the south, it could be a little bumpy with all the hills and curves. Somehow I got lost and ended up at Lanta Old Town. This town was used to be a main business centre 50 years ago. Currently, it is considered a cultural highlight of the whole island and features both Chinese and Buddhist temple. There's many choices of restaurants too and I ended up having dinner at the Old Town Sea Food. This restaurant offers great authentic Thai food with views of ferries and sampans.
27 September 2015, after the usual breakfast and sun tanning routine, I headed to Why Not Bar for a cold beer and Pad Thai. By now, me and their staff have become friends. This people are extremely friendly to the extend that I was invited to join them for a volleyball match with the locals here. It was a great experience, an experience which I've never encountered else where.
28 September 2014, Chaiya, a friend I meet at the bar had planned to bring me to another nearby village hidden somewhere near Koh Lanta which he swears has the most stunning sunset. As true as his words, this so far has been the most beautiful sunset I've seen. This place seems to be much more lack down, relax and peaceful. Not much of a tourist here, mostly foreign families and a couple of backpackers. Kids playing with swing tied on a tree, husbands chilling out with cold beer while their wives having a good massage at a nearby hut facing the beach. Having a massage here is pretty damn cheap compared to the resort where I was. A 60 minutes oil massage only cost THB 180. This is what I call a perfect holiday, aprreciating the beauty of Gods creation with nothing to worry about.
29 September 2014, I woke up as early as 7am to be picked up by a tour guide to visit 4 islands at Krabi. Our first stop was at Ko Chuek followed by Ko Mook (The Emerald Cave ) than to Ko Kradan and lastly to the beautiful crystal clear Ko Ngai.
30 September 2014, feeling a little sea sick because of yesterday's island hopping, I force myself to wake up to catch the last minute breakfast buffet served at the resort. After breakfast I went back to my room to get more rest. Im already feeling better by afternoon so I rented a scooter to head the north part where Noon View restaurant is located. This place is simply awesome. Good food and excellant breezy view from the top of the hill.
1st October 2014, throughout my days in Koh Lanta, Im blessed with good weather and to be given the oppurtunity to be here. A great place for anyone seeking peace and love for nature.
